13th ANNUAL PRAISE IN THE PARK 2008
"Special Guest Appearance from the Detroit Shock" (5-6PM)
Once again, Acclaim Community Outreach hosted its 13th Annual Praise in the Park outreach celebration. This year the event proved successful with the help of faithful volunteers. Donations were received from local businesses, organizations, and individuals from various areas within the Metro Detroit community. Praise in the Park West was held on Saturday June 14, 2008 from 3PM to 9PM at Stoepel Park #1 (W. Outer Drive @ Evergreen) in Detroit. Special gospel recording artists from Property of God Management spearheaded by Katrina shared their musical expertise.
Praise in the Park East was held on Saturday July 26, 2008 from 3PM to 9PM at Corrigan Playfield (E. Warren @ Alter Road) in Detroit. This year, we had a special guest celebrity from the DETROIT SHOCK in the person of Eshaya Murphy! This was a great opportunity for so many young people who received signed autographs on basketballs, T-shirts, etc.
Acclaim Community Outreach would like to thank all participants, patrons, volunteers, and also a very big shout out to the Michigan Army National Guard and contemporary gospel recording artist Dray Hill & Co.

The summer of 2007 presented many fun-filled opportunties for community residents as ACOS hosted its 12th Annual Praise in the Park outreach event. Praise in the Park West convened on Saturday June 16, 2007 at Stoepel Park #1 4PM to 9PM (W. Outer Drive & Evergreen). The emcee for the event was radio host Rufus Beals, WDRJ Radio 1440 AM.
Musical entertainment was provided by local youth and adult musicians, vocalists, instrumentalists, poets, dancers, etc., who enjoy every opportunity to perform outdoors. Free food, prevention materials and brochures, along with other items were given away during this event. Low income residents who come seeking sources of assistance for transitional housing shelters were referred to various organizations who collaborate with Acclaim Community Outreach Services.
The Michigan Army National Guard represented in a very big way by setting up materials regarding job opportunities for community residents. Local churches and other organizations who came to volunteer of their time and talent were welcomed. Deliverance Tabernacle Church has assisted ACOS each year by distributing food and other materials to the community residents.
Praise in the Park East took place on Saturday July 21, 2007 at Corrigan Playfield, 4PM to 9PM (E. Warren @ Alter Rd). These are ongoing outreach activities that are in need of funding and ACOS continues to seek grantors and donors for such an inspiring community event.
